Prominent leaders all praise for Nizami

LAHORE - Noted political and journalistic figures of the country have extended their heartiest felicitations for the journalistic contributions of Nawa-i-Waqt Group Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami at the historic juncture of golden jubilee celebrations on Friday.
They besides congratulating Majid Nizami on the completion of 50 years of his editorship, acknowledged the great work done under his dynamic leadership in these years, saying that the Nawa-i-Waqt Group stood out as an ideological beam of light in the gales of dictatorial regimes.
These views were expressed by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Balochistan Governor and Chief Minister, Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Chairman Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Editor-in-Chief The Balochistan Times through their messages.
The PM in his message said that Nawa-i-Waqt Group has been leading the nation with vigour. He said that the Nawa-i-Waqt not only played a unique role in Pakistan Movement but also in the building of Pakistan as per the views of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal. The criticism of this paper has always been constructive for the government and the opposition alike.
Nizami, he said, during the last half century developed new journalistic trends through his paper and could rightly be termed as an institution in it. Lauding Nizami’s role during the worst martial law regimes, Nizami uttered the right word without any fear. He also praised the role of Nawa-i-Waqt Group on Afghanistan, Palestine or Kashmir issue, during Tehreek-i-Namoos-i-Risalat, movement for the restoration of democracy and rehabilitation of the 2005 earthquake victims and 2010-11 flood victims in the country. The struggle against extremism and terrorism is not second to none, the Premier asserted.
Besides praying for his health, the P M said, “Majid Nizami is an asset for the nation as well as that of country who proved to be a beacon of light in the dark ages of dictatorial regimes the country faced one after the other.
Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi in his message said that Majid Nizami had an international fame through his journalistic and social services. A great patriot, a Pakistan Movement Worker and proponent of positive, constructive and modern journalism in the country, his services for field of journalism are unmatchable. His life, he said, was a guiding star for the youth who could play a constructive role in the building process of the country.
Chief Minister Aslam Raisani in his note said, “Majid Nizami has continued the mission of Hameed Nizami who played an active role in Pakistan Movement ” He said that the positive and constructive criticism of Nawa-i-Waqt Group paved a way for democratic governments. He hoped that the mission would continue for the freedom of expression and people’s rights in the country.
Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Chairman Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman in his message said Nawa-i-Waqt had raised a voice for Islam, Pakistan and against the US imperialism that gave them a new spirit. The ideological journalism under the editorship of Majid Nizami, he stressed, made this group unique in the world of Press.
Balochistan Times Editor-in-Chief Syed Faseih Iqbal said that Nawa-i-Waqt Group had a role in promoting healthy journalism based on principles, values and ideology. “Allah has specially bestowed Nizami with the vision to do all these services for the nation,” Iqbal said. “I would also like to acknowledge Nizami’s instrumental role in creation and promotion of Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust, Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehreek-i-Pakistan, Aiwan-e-Quaid-i-Azam, Pakistan Freedom Movement Gold Medal”, he stated in his note.
