NPC’s newly elected body takes
oath: out-going President takes oath
Islamabad April 25: Newly elected
body of National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad on Wednesday took oath of the
office at a simple but impressive ceremony on Thursday here at the auditorium
of the club.
Setting
innovative trends, the outgoing President NPC Afzal Butt took oath from the
in-coming Executive body of the club. The function was largely attended by
notables drawn from variety of shades of life, besides federal ministers, parliamentarians,
politicians, religious scholars and representatives from the civil society.
Minister for
Information and Broadcasting Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira and Minster for National
Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan were the guests of honor on the
occasion.
Those
who also attended the ceremony included, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Fazal
Karim Kundi, Minister of State Sardar Shahjehan Yusaf, former chief of Jamat
Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Deputy Parliamentary Leader of MQM Haider abass Rizvi,
Secretary Information PML (N) Senator Mushahid Ullah, Senators Nuzhatullah,
Anver Beg, Talah Mehmood Aryan, PPP’s MPA from Punjab Nargis Faiz Malik,
Secretary Information and Broadcasting Taimur Azmat Usman, Kashmiri leader
Abdul Rashid Turabi, Chairman Green Task Force Dr Jamal Nasir, PTI leader Rahat
Qudosi, ICCI’s Munawar Mughal, Chairman Muslim Hands International Syed
Lakht-e-Hussain, chief of World Minority Alliance J. Salik, Tikka Khan, former
secretary information Ashfaq Gondal and senior journalists.
Those
who took oath included, Farooq Faisal Khan for President, Asim Ali Rana, Amir
Sajjad Syed, Syed Ejaz Ahmed Shah for Vice Presidents, Shehyar Khan for
Secretary, Afzal Javed for Finance Secretary, Ata Rajar, Nasir Mehmood and
Saghir Ahmed Chaudary for Joint Secretaries besides 17 members of the Governing
Body.
The
body representing Journalists Panel took oath on Thursday was elected during
December last year for 2012.
Addressing
the gathering Afzal Butt pointed out that the federal government and government
of the Punjab have failed to fulfill their
commitments to the NPC. However, he expressed the hope that they would soon
comply with their commitments to the NPS.
In
recognition for rendering exceptional services to civil the NPC announced to
offer honorary membership of the club to Dr. Jamal Nasir, Syed Lakht-e-Hasnain
and J. Salik.
