Code of Conduct for Media widely hailed

They expressed the confidence that presence of a formal code would help promote healthy journalism in the country.

Prominent journalists, anchorpersons and analysts have hailed the Code of Conduct for Media and emphasized the need for devising some workable mechanism for its proper implementation.
In their exclusive interviews with Radio Pakistan, they expressed the confidence that presence of a formal code would help promote healthy journalism in the country.

Veteran journalist and President of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editor Mujibur Rehman Shami said the Code has been prepared by prepared through mutual consultations among all stakeholders including Pakistan Broadcasters Association and it should be implemented in letter and spirit.
He said the Code has the ingredients to ensure flourishing of responsible journalism in Pakistan.
Prominent anchorperson and analyst Syed Talat Hussain said there were many issues and the Code of Conduct has brought them to the fore.
He, however, wanted the Government and other stakeholders to agree on a proper implementation mechanism.
Another renowned journalist and analyst Rahimullah Yousafzai said problems arise in quest for rating and competition and that is why the Code of Conduct has been issued.
He was of the view that there would be difficulties in its implementation and this aspect should also be taken care of.
