Long, hard wait for salaries at Daily Pakistan Today

LAHORE: There appears to be no end to the agonizing wait for salaries at Pakistan Today with the employees not having been paid since January this year.
About two weeks ago Babar Nizami, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) sent a text message to all heads of departments informing them the salaries would be paid in a day or two, raising hopes among staff. However, they were never disbursed that left the employees frustrated.

Last week, Editor Arif Nizami, held a meeting with senior staff members of the newspaper but nothing positive emerged, says our source.
With patience of the staff members wearing thin, the management have now set April 15 as the new date for paying off salaries.
Veteran Arif Nizami had launched the newspaper just over 15 months ago but it has seemingly run into grave financial difficulties in recent months.
Observers say Nizami erred by starting publication from Karachi and Islamabad when only Lahore, where the paper was born, would have been good enough.
